It’s a hard rain that’s going to fall,
So sit on your porch and enjoy the thunderous sky.
Lightning, across the night sky does crawl.
~
Your harvest needs the rain, so your stalks stand tall.
This summer just seems to be particularly dry.
It’s a hard rain that’s going to fall.
~
Your lady forgot her protective shawl.
Carrying keys on kites that fly.
Lightning, across the night sky does crawl.
~
In the light of the moon, the clouds, with gunshots brawl
The mist hits your fields, and they give off a sigh.
It’s a hard rain that’s going to fall.
~
Shotgun fire in a distant concert hall,
As you sit on your porch and begin to cry
Lightning, across the night sky does crawl.
~
The rain washed away your crops, and the lightning killed your wife after all.
It was the thunder that broke your heart and moved you to cry.
It’s a hard rain that going to fall.
Lightning, across the night sky does crawl.
